Become a Screen Colourist

Delivered part-time over 12 weeks, this is a practical, hands-on course for practitioners wanting to develop colour grading craft skills to apply grading techniques to achieve an intended look. You’ll gain confidence in using industry standard software DaVinci Resolve and understand the technical requirements and options you can apply to achieve your creative intensions.

Learn about colour theory, and how to manipulate colour and light to contribute to your narrative

Gain skills in using DaVinci Resolve and understand the technical quality of data and the grading workflow

Understand the relationship between on set shooting and the post production process and how to Interpret a creative brief

Is the Industry Certificate: Colour Grading (Resolve) right for you?

This Industry Certificate is suitable for Cinematographers, Editors, Filmmakers and Post-Production specialists who wish to gain colour grading skills using Resolve software.

You’ll need a good level of understanding of non-linear editing and post-production workflows to benefit from this course. This is a 100% computer based course and you’ll be taught on MACS, so you’ll need to be comfortable in that environment.

What you will need

This course is delivered over 12 weeks, part-time on campus at AFTRS. Attendance at all sessions is compulsory as assessments are conducted within class time.

2 evenings per week (Tues & Wed 6pm -9pm )
18th, 19th Feb, 25th, 26th Feb, 3rd, 4th March, 10th, 11th March,17,18 March,24,25 March, 31 March and 1st April, 7th,8th April, 14,15 April, 21,22 April, 28,29 April, 5th,6th may.

3 Saturdays 9am – 5pm.
7th March, 4th April, 2nd MayPayment Plan: this course is eligible for a payment plan.
25% to confirm enrolment in the course
25% due 14 days from beginning of course
25% due by the end of week 3 of the course
25% due by the end of week 6 of the course
NOTE: If you enrol 14 – 1 day before course commencement, 50% payment will be required to confirm enrolment.

This course is only open to students aged 18 +.
