Stockholms dramatiska högskola (Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts)

Methods and forms of writing in relation to artistic practices – summer course

University degrees: Short-Courses

Course length: 1 day

Course city: Stockholm

This course is aimed at artists, dancers, artists, choreographers and other artists who work performatively and who want to develop an independent writing practice.

The purpose of the course is to problematize, investigate and experiment with the immanent relationship between contemporary art – focus on dance and performance – and various forms and methods of writing that have emerged from the 1960s onwards. The main format of the course is seminars and workshops where students will be introduced to different forms and methods of writing. Students are given time to experiment with these as well as give feedback on each other’s texts in smaller and larger groups. We will read and discuss texts by thinkers, writers and artists such as Theodor Adorno, Denise Ferreira da Silva, Hannah Black, Maggie Nelson, Fred Moten and others.
