University degrees: Courses, Postgraduate, Short-Courses, Summer University, Workshops

At UCLA TFT, we’re pioneering a curriculum for the rapidly changing world we live in, a truly interdisciplinary experience where entertainment, performing arts and cutting-edge research can thrive. It’s an environment where the storytellers, scholars and industry leaders of tomorrow begin their journey. But while students are immersed in a variety of ideas, methods and mediums, there’s also ample opportunity to focus, and pursue what interests them most.

Students come from around the world to study filmmaking at UCLA. The award-winning faculty teaches undergraduate and graduate level coursework in Acting, Directing, Cinematography, Animation, Producing, and Screenwriting. UCLA hosts an annual film festival of student work and regular acting showcases. With deep roots in the Hollywood community, UCLA students benefit from unparalleled networking, educational, and collaborative opportunities.

The Department of Theater offers an M.F.A. in Theater with specializations in Acting, Directing, Playwriting, Design for Theater and Entertainment (Scenic Design, Costume Design and Lighting Design); and a Ph.D. in Theater and Performance Studies.

Department of Film, Television and Digital Media offers a variety of graduate programs that lead to an array of potential career paths. Many of our graduates are working successfully as writers, producers, directors, editors, cinematographers, journalists, animators, educators and executives. Some choose to work for major studios, while others dedicate their time to independent filmmaking and entertainment endeavors; many also go on to teach.
